OPGW Cable Application

OPGW (optical ground wire) is a type of conductor used in electrical transmission lines, which protects phase conductors against lightning strikes, acts as a protective conductor and provides data communication. This conductor combines earthing and communication functions. The OPGW conductor is a steel tube with optical fibres inside, wrapped with aluminium clad and aluminium alloy wire layers. The stainless steel tube or PBT tube, which can also be clad with aluminium, is filled with thixotropic gel to prevent damage to the optical fibres during installation and operation.
